Superhero and Background
My completed superhero drawing on the left, and the watercolor background it will be put onto on the right. The person will eventually be cut out and put on top of the background to give it a comic book effect.
Superhero Thumbnail
A thumbnail sketch of a musician sort of superhero. I blew up this picture on Photoshop, printed it, and traced over it on a light table to get a clean sketch that was about 11 inches tall.
Juxtaposition Drawing
Our juxtaposition drawings were supposed to show two or more things that don't go together. I steered off the normal path a bit and decided to have a snorkeler in the sky with a girl in a hot air balloon.
Quick Pencil and Chalk Sketches
We were only given a few minutes per sketch, and these two were my favorites. The small one on the left was a continuous line drawing, and the one on the right was drawn with green chalk.
Theme Choice Drawing
For my theme choice drawing, I decided to use several different types of media. The stripes were made with Micron pens, the gradient is shaved graphite mixed with water and splattered with a paintbrush, the plaid is marker, and the circle was made by melting crayons on a template. The circle was supposed to have clean edges, but I didn't have a heat gun to use, only a blow dryer, so the edges that were taped down lifted up, and the crayons went all over the place.
Ribbons and Weave With Chalk and Weave Drawing
We used different colors of chalk to shade ribbon drawings, as well as a weave. We also made actual paper weaves, which we used to add on to another drawing. I just decided to draw a girl and use the weave as a sort of flannel.
Color Wheel
A color wheel made up of circles, triangles, and squares. Lines connect primary colors and dotted lines connect secondary colors. The circles and squares fade to white on one side, and I wanted to do that on the triangles but they were too small for it to work well.
Water Droplet
A water droplet sketch from a tutorial video we watched in class. We used graphite pencils for the shading and white chalk for the highlights.
First Class Drawing
For our first little project in class, we all picked a toy, sketched it, then gave it a skeletal structure. I picked a wooden deer figurine, and after I sketched it out, folded the paper in half and copied it on the outside using a light table. Then I opened it back up and sketched that copy onto the inside of the paper, mirroring the original. I put a skeleton on the inside of the copy based on references I found and erased the outline after.
